As a pilot it is always interesting to read articles about aviator sunglasses. Sometimes I think the mystique overtakes common sense. For example, check out this article:Aviator Sunglasses - Why You Should Buy The Mirrored Style In this article the author claims that mirrored sunglasses were developed for pilots; nothing could be further from the truth. The facts are that aviator sunglasses for military pilots, and civilian pilots and drivers of cars with heads up displays, should buy non-polarized aviator sunglasses like Randolph aviator sunglasses. They are not mirrored, not polarized and are very effective at blocking out the suns harmful ultraviolet rays. I found this interesting video that tells why these are the best aviator sunglasses:Randolph Aviator SunglassesIn addition, I found this interesting article at Ezinearticles as well: How Important Are Aviator Sunglasses For Pilots?Aviator sunglasses are also important for drivers of automobiles that have heads up displays in them. Polarized sunglasses can render the readouts from the heads up display unreadable, and therefore useless.

Eyewear for Pilots and Drivers of Cars with Heads Up Displays
In an interesting article the author claims that proper eyewear for pilots has been a required item since man's first flight. I beg to differ - the first flight took place when googles were the preferred form of eyewear, and they really only kept the eyes from drying out and from bugs entering the eyes. Really, not much use at all; however, you can read the article here: Eyewear for PilotsI would argue that the proper aviator sunglasses are more important, and certainly not mirrored aviator sunglasses. You can check out this informative video about Sunglasses for Pilots here:Or, if you prefer, read this article about the Evolution of Aviator Sunglasses: Evolution Of Aviator SunglassesThe facts are that pilots need non-polarized aviator sunglasses like Randolph aviator sunglasses, NOT mirrored aviator sunglasses.
