Eyewear for Pilots and Drivers of Cars with Heads Up Displays

In an interesting article the author claims that proper eyewear for pilots has been a required item since man's first flight. I beg to differ - the first flight took place when googles were the preferred form of eyewear, and they really only kept the eyes from drying out and from bugs entering the eyes. I would argue that the proper aviator sunglasses are more important, and certainly not mirrored aviator sunglasses.
